The Brief
Day Lewis is a family-owned business and one of the largest pharmacy chains in the country. Each year they produce an annual conference as a chance to bring their employees and stakeholders together in one place. But when the global pandemic hit, Day Lewis was no longer able to run their face-to-face event. Using Principal Global as their events agency, Day Lewis wished to create a virtual version of the event. Principal Global, therefore, came to Small Films to turn this vision into a reality.
Our Creative Solution
Working closely with Principal Global, we came up with a creative concept for both the day and evening parts of the event. Shooting on a green screen, we built out an entire virtual pharmacy, where key team members performed interviews against a pharmaceutical backdrop. Our team of animators then brought this to life with motion graphics. For the evening event, we shot an entire awards show in the Clapham Grand – involving multiple cameras capturing all angles. To open the show and inject some humour, the Small Films team also wrote a comedy sketch, presented by comedian and presenter Joel Dommett. Global superstar, Alexandra Burke delivered a knock-out performance and the evening continued with a spoken word poet, dancers and a variety of entertainers. Capturing all performances on video, our editors then added motion graphics, helping to give the sensation of attending The Oscars.
The Result
The content smashed Day Lewis’s objectives – to achieve an interactive show with all the bells and whistles that would help their employees engage online. Day Lewis was thrilled with the footage. So much so, that they enlisted the Small Films team to shoot all the motion graphics for their following in-person event in 2022.
