The Brief
Lick are an incredibly forward thinking and disruptive paint brand who are looking to shake up a traditional consumer product genre. They prioritise producing useful and entertaining content that their consumers can enjoy. Youtube is at the top of their agenda for content creation and so they came to Small Films looking for specialist help in creating Youtube series that are best-in-class. In particular, they had a complex story to tell about an eccentric owner of a grand B&B called Sawcliffe Manor and wanted to create a 3 part series.
Our Creative Solution
Once Lick had put us in touch with the owners of the B&B, we went to work identifying the story that we would be telling. Everything was time sensitive as the process of identifying these contributors had taken considerable time and the filming had to be completed quickly before guests arrived and they needed the renovations completed. Through numerous conversations over the phone we were able to construct a narrative that could span three 10 minute episodes, culminating in a big reveal. They had a particular room they were planning to redecorate and we charted this transformation whilst also delving into all kinds of useful side stories like decoration tips and how to buy the right furniture.
The Result
The series we created was incredibly well received by Licks’ customers and Youtube subscribers, as well as the brand itself. As a result, we’ve gone on to work with Lick on multiple other projects to power their content marketing. The Youtube lead at Lick said “George and team are brilliant, they helped us produce stunning content at the last minute and with lots of challenging circumstances. Loads of ideas and a great editorial eye for crafting stories in the edit which is hard to come by, looking forward to our next project together.”
